Delete, limit, or pause before opening: what is different?
Not needing an app, limiting a daily total and reconsidering an automatic opening are different goals.
Deleting an app
If an app is not needed for a while, deletion may be an option. Data retention and restoration depend on that service. This guide does not assume deletion is always the right choice.
Setting a time limit
For a daily budget, explore the app timer on your device. Google distinguishes daily timers from temporary Focus mode. Check the official guide and your own device for the details.
Pausing before opening
Sway keeps the chosen app available while creating a moment to choose again. Continue after a 3–8 second pause, or leave without waiting. Re-entry rules, intervention caps and rest periods mean not every opening is interrupted. It is not a complete blocker.
Check permissions and costs
Automatic protection needs an Accessibility connection after disclosure and your consent. You can turn it off. Free protects one app; Plus is an optional subscription. Google Play presents the final local price, taxes and renewal terms. This article is not a checkout or a free-trial offer.
Choose the approach, not a promise
Sway is not presented as a hard blocker when that is what you need. If you prefer a small pause and a choice, the browser demo can illustrate the interaction. The web demo does not detect or block other apps and is not the Android product.
